FAQ
What is Prism Lines?
A desktop language-learning app: import local video and subtitles, learn line by line, mark words known or not, build spaced-repetition cards, and replay original sentences on review. Chinese product name: 词有戏.
What video and subtitles are supported?
Common local video (MP4, MKV, etc.) and embedded or external subtitles (SRT, ASS, …). See Import Video & Subtitles.
Do I need the internet?
Core study, review, and playback are local-first. Online dictionary, updates, or error reporting—if present—are described in settings and can often be limited (per your build).
Where is my data stored?
By default on your machine in the app user data directory. Back it up yourself; uninstall behavior depends on the OS. See Privacy Policy.
How is this different from Anki?
Prism Lines is built around TV subtitle workflow: timeline splits, video jumps while learning, sentence replay on review. Anki is a general memory tool—they can complement each other; export sync is a future consideration.
Which languages can I learn?
Depends on subtitles and dictionary support you configure; English is the primary use case today.
What about subtitle copyright?
Prism Lines does not supply any shows or subs. Use media you have rights to. The app only processes local files.
Where are download links?
On the Download page. Windows and macOS installers update when released.
How do I give feedback?
See Contact, email, or GitHub Issues.
